Bioinformatics Research Assistant (Internship)

What You’ll Do?

As a Bioinformatics Research Assistant, you will serve Oerth Bio through a summer internship as an innovative, inquisitive, and motivated team player with strong problem-solving and analytical skills. In this role your focus will be (1) mining and visualizing several -omics databases of E3 ligases and/or (2) implementing scripts for data analysis and processing. The latter notably includes the implementation of scripts for post-processing next-gen sequencing data from DNA-encoded library screening. In this position you will support the research in the Data Science & Modeling division, in direct collaboration with the Chemistry and Biology divisions.

This role requires excellent communication and organizational skills.

Who You Are:

  • You are majoring in Bioinformatics or Computational Genomics.

  • Preferred skills: Python / R (or any other coding skills)

  • Experience in data analysis is preferred.

  • You are familiar with Github

  • You are in the habit of documenting your code

  • Experience with phylogenetics and sequence analysis a plus

  • Experience working with non-human -omics data a plus

  • You are a team player that enjoys working closely with others.

  • You speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.

  • You communicate ideas effectively in group meetings.

  • You are detail-oriented and possess excellent organizational skills.

  • You are capable of balancing competing priorities while following protocols and adhering

    to a set experimental schedule.

    This position will be located Durham, NC. Oerthlings are strongly encouraged to be vaccinated and required to be vaccinated if they plan to work from the lab and/or office.
